Congratulations to the OCC Senior and Chamber Choirs at the 8th World Choir Games!

Congratulations to the Oakville Children's Choir Senior and Chamber Choirs who won a Gold Medal in the Youth Choir of Equal Voices category and a Silver Medal in the Musica Sacra categories at the 8th World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia. The choirs also performed at an outreach concert with Estonian singer David Benton in Tallinn, Estonia and a concert at the famous Temppeliaukio Church (Church of the Rock) in Helsinki, Finland. The choristers were thrilled to meet and sing with other choirs from around the world on this successful tour!

Youth Poetry Writing Contest

Congratulations to Elaine Jiang, the winner of the OCC Youth Poetry Writing Contest for her poem "Snowflakes".  The OCC would also like to congratulate all of the poetry contest finalists: Mila Badics, Daisy Kurelek, Emily May, Robert O'Halloran, Dylan Policelli.

New Energy Exchange Program

Singers who have graduated from high school and are in a post-secondary program of some sort are invited to apply to sing with the Chamber or AFGM choir programs in special mentorship roles as part of our new “energy exchange program.”  The energy exchange program allows for graduates to participate in these two choirs through contributions of mentorship, leadership, fundraising, and specific contributions (setting up at concerts) in exchange for free tuition which many post-secondary students cannot afford.

The OCC is very proud of this new program as we feel that these older graduates are very much contributing to the culture of our Chamber and A Few Good Men choir programs and that they, ultimately, make the choirs stronger, help in growing our numbers, and strengthen our overall organization.
